Trees have lived with the earth's biosphere for nearly three hundred million years. So, the history of trees would be one of living with other organisms present within this ecological system, battling and thriving in it in competition and cooperation.

Genesis of Trees

It was during the Devonian period, some 400 million years back that the very first true trees were ushered into this world. Amongst those very first trees, there were merely shapes. Like, for instance, 'Archaeopteris' could attain a height of as much as 30 meters but as a whole, they modified and changed the ambiance much because of soil formation as well as providing a direct habitat for the creature present there. Now Earth, too, has undergone some dramatic climatic changes, and so did the trees evolve to suit conditions.
